Amazon Expands East with Second CT Distribution Center
Amazon is planning to build its second large distribution center in Connecticut, this one in Norwich. The facility will be on a 170-acre site and cover approximately 1.1 million square feet.
The proposed center would have 58 loading docks, 422 trailer-parking slots, and 729 employee parking spaces. According to Amazon's estimate, the project would generate around $23 per hour for each of its employees, totaling about 500 full-time jobs equivalent.
Additionally, construction of the center is expected to create another 200 temporary jobs. The city of Norwich could also see a significant increase in tax revenue, with Amazon estimating that its similar facilities nationally are assessed at over $150 million annually.
