Amazon Expands Prime Delivery to Merchant Websites
Amazon is expanding its logistics network to let merchants offer Prime delivery on their own websites at no extra cost. The move allows Amazon's Multichannel Fulfillment service users, including hundreds of thousands in the US, to add a Prime delivery option through the MCF and Buy with Prime app for Shopify. Merchants don't need to change payment processing or store policies, as Prime membership is verified after checkout.
Early adopters saw over 40% of eligible orders shipped with Prime delivery, according to Amazon's press release. The company also introduced its MCF Preferred Pricing Program, which offers discounts and credits that can reduce fulfillment fees by 15% to 25% for the first six months. No long-term contracts are required, and discounts are applied automatically after enrollment.
Amazon's push to turn its logistics infrastructure into a service for other businesses continues with this expansion. The company has been investing in faster delivery, including expanding same-day delivery hubs from 85 to over 1,000 by 2031, and increasing average pay for delivery associates.
