Amazon Expands Refund Plan for Millions of Prime Customers

Millions of Amazon Prime customers may receive larger refunds as part of a revised Federal Trade Commission settlement. The FTC announced that Amazon will increase the maximum payment amount from $51 to up to $200.

The expanded refund plan, which affects up to 1.5 billion consumers, aims to compensate those harmed by Amazon's alleged deceptive enrollment and cancellation practices.

The original settlement included a $2.5 billion payout, with more than $845 million already distributed to eligible customers. Under the revised order, consumers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits during a one-year period may now qualify for refunds, increasing the pool of eligible recipients by millions of people.

Amazon has denied violating federal consumer protection laws but agreed to settle the case last year.
