Amazon Expands Refund Program After Revised FTC Settlement
Amazon's $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has been revised to provide additional refunds to eligible customers.
The revised order will allow more consumers who were harmed by Amazon's deceptive enrollment and cancellation practices to benefit from the FTC's historic settlement, which was approved in September.
Under the original agreement, Amazon was required to provide $1.5 billion in customer refunds and pay a $1 billion civil penalty after being sued for enrolling tens of millions of customers in Prime subscriptions without their knowledge and making it increasingly difficult for customers to cancel.
The revised order will increase the maximum cap for refunds from $51 to $200 in total payments, with eligible customers set to receive their refund by April 2027.
