Amazon Expands Renewable Energy Commitment with New Wind Power Deal

Amazon has announced a new long-term agreement to purchase electricity from four wind farms in Sweden. This deal will add nearly 200 megawatts of power, pushing Amazon's total energy supply in Sweden to over 1 gigawatt once fully operational.

The recent agreement underscores Amazon's commitment to sustainability and its strategic move to support its rapidly growing data centers. As demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence services continues to rise, Amazon is intensifying its energy procurement efforts.

Amazon's current Price-to-Sales (P/S) ratio is significantly elevated compared to its historical median of around 3.4x, indicating that the market is pricing in high growth expectations. However, traditional earnings-based valuation metrics like P/E do not apply due to Amazon's cash-flow-negative status.

The company plans to add 2 million NVIDIA GPUs to its data centers by 2028, following the deployment of 1 million GPUs this year. This expansion underscores Amazon's focus on cloud computing and artificial intelligence services.
