Amazon Expands Settlement Payments to Millions More Customers
Amazon will start issuing automatic refunds to millions of customers as part of its $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.
The company will accelerate and expand payments to eligible customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits during any 12-month period of enrollment in Prime.
The original order required Amazon to send refunds of up to $51 to users who signed up for a Prime membership via the company’s 'Single Page Checkout,' among other links, between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during a one-year period.
Customers who were not included in earlier settlement payment phases will now be eligible for automatic refunds starting October 1st, according to the FTC.
