Amazon Eyes $220B Spending Spree on AWS and AI
Amazon has set its sights on significant investments in the coming years, with a forecasted $220 billion capex for AWS and AI by 2026. A recent bond sale indicates that the company is using debt financing to fund about 2.6% of this planned spending.
The e-commerce giant has also partnered with OpenAI, allowing select U.S. advertisers to extend their Amazon ad campaigns into ChatGPT. Amazon manages the campaign while OpenAI controls delivery and placements under ChatGPT responses.
In Ohio, Amazon has invested around $40 billion in data centers since 2015, creating thousands of jobs and paying approximately $11 million in state taxes last year. However, officials may renegotiate or repeal tax breaks for data-center operations.
