Amazon Eyes Nvidia Chip Offload Deal Worth $8 Billion
Amazon is exploring a deal to shift about $8 billion worth of top-end Nvidia chips off its balance sheet, according to reports. The move would offload thousands of Grace Blackwell chips across more than a dozen US data centers into a special-purpose vehicle funded by outside investors.
The structure would allow Amazon to keep using the hardware while adopting a more asset-light financing model. This vehicle could issue debt and sell up to a 10% equity stake to investors, reports say.
No further details on the potential deal have been disclosed at this time. The Financial Times cited people familiar with the matter in its report.
