Amazon is considering a second warehouse location in eastern Connecticut, this time in Norwich. The project, led by Bluewater Property Group, would be situated at the Occum Industrial Center on Canterbury Turnpike alongside Interstate 395.

The proposed facility, dubbed 'Project Wildcat', would cover over 170 acres and have a preferred size of nearly 1.1 million square feet. It's expected to bring in around 500 permanent jobs, as well as 200 construction jobs, and additional indirect economic benefits to Norwich.

This comes as Amazon continues to face opposition from Killingly over its plans for a similar warehouse on the Waterbury-Naugatuck line. The developer behind that project, Ryan Cos., filed new applications and a lawsuit in state Superior Court after the town rejected their initial proposal by a 3-2 vote.

Amazon spokesperson confirmed the Norwich plans, stating that the company intends to proceed with both projects. A LandTech planning document lists the Killingly site as a potential alternative for the project.
