Amazon Faces Wrongful Death Lawsuit Over Fatal Cargo Plane Crash at Miami International Airport
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Amazon and several other parties following a fatal cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026. The lawsuit claims that the crash was 'foreseeable and preventable' and seeks damages in excess of $50,000.
The crash involved an Amazon cargo jet operating as Prime Air Flight 7598, which overran a runway and struck a van working for Professional Ocean Service Corp., killing five people, including Julio Pineda, the 75-year-old father of Jachel and Junior Pineda. The lawsuit names Amazon Services, 21 Air, Avia Acquisition, Avia Investments, Andromeda Leasing, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Titan Aviation Leasing, and the jet's two pilots as defendants.
The victims who died in the crash were Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47. Two others who were in the van with Pineda survived and were injured: Roosevelt Perdomo, 36, and Ridoel Averhoff, 32.
