Amazon Fraud Scheme Lands Woman 16-Year Prison Sentence

A Georgia woman has been sentenced to over 16 years in prison for orchestrating a massive fraud scheme against Amazon. Brittany Hudson, 40, used her business that contracted with Amazon to deliver packages and her relationship with Kayricka Wortham, who worked as an operations manager at an Amazon warehouse in Smyrna, to steal nearly $10 million.

Between January and June 2022, the pair created dozens of fake vendors in Amazon's vendor system. They approved the fraudulent vendor profiles, allowing Hudson and Wortham to submit over 1,000 fictitious invoices for goods and services that had never been provided.

The women then used the proceeds from this scheme to purchase luxury vehicles, including a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a 2022 Tesla Model X, a 2018 Porsche Panamera, and a Kawasaki ZX636 motorcycle. They also bought a nearly $1 million home in Smyrna, Georgia.

Hudson was sentenced to 16 years and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. She was ordered to pay Amazon $9.4 million in restitution and forfeit over $7.85 million, including her Smyrna residence and money seized from her bank account.
