Amazon Gives Advertisers More Control Over Alexa for Shopping Conversations
Amazon's AI-powered shopping assistant, Alexa for Shopping, is giving advertisers more control over how their products are presented to customers. The e-commerce giant has expanded its set of advertising formats to include sponsored prompts and Sponsored Products or Sponsored Brands placements inside the Alexa for Shopping experience.
This shift allows brands to influence what happens after a shopper taps on a prompt surfaced in Alexa for Shopping, rather than relying solely on information pulled from product catalogs or Amazon storefronts. With Branded Conversations, advertisers can add their own explanations of how products differ from competitors or work together, helping shape the explanation that leads to the decision.
This move suggests that advertising inside AI interfaces will increasingly involve supplying usable context, not just creative content. Brands will need clear product knowledge, defensible claims, and language that can survive being reused by an assistant in response to an individual shopper.
