Amazon Gives Itself Flexibility with Kirk Herbstreit Contract Extension
Kirk Herbstreit has secured a new contract with Amazon's Prime Video, reportedly worth more than $10 million annually for multiple seasons. The deal includes an unusual clause that would allow Amazon to move on from Herbstreit if Sean McVay, the Rams head coach, decides to leave his coaching position for a role as a TV analyst.
The new contract is a significant extension of Herbstreit's original five-year deal, which was signed in 2022. At the time, Amazon had reportedly offered McVay up to $100 million over five years to join Prime Video as an analyst, but McVay declined and instead chose to focus on defending his team.
Herbstreit's new contract makes him one of the highest-paid NFL analysts, and he is now set for multiple seasons with Amazon. However, his ESPN contract, which covers his role on College GameDay, also runs out after this season, and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to secure an extension with both networks.
