Amazon Grounds Cargo Ship After Fatal Boeing 767 Crash
Amazon Prime Air has temporarily suspended its air freight services with 21 Air after the fatal Boeing 767 runway overrun incident at Miami International Airport on September 6. The crash killed five motorists and critically injured three others when the jet careened off the end of the runway by 1,300 feet.
The investigation into the accident has revealed several questionable choices made by the aircrew during their unstable approach, including inconsistent verbal communication between the pilots regarding the plane's speed and ignoring electronic warning alerts such as 'too low terrain' and 'sink rate.'
While the National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB) has not officially declared the cause of the crash as pilot error, aviation and legal experts have raised questions about the training and qualifications of Captain Joseph Carroll and First Officer Jaime Felipe Silva Molina.
