PAL Taps Both Boeing and Airbus for Widebody Order
Philippine Airlines (PAL) is reportedly finalizing an order for a mix of Boeing and Airbus widebody aircraft. The airline plans to purchase around twenty widebodies, split evenly between ten Boeing 787 Dreamliners and ten Airbus A350s.
The move is seen as a strategic decision by PAL to take advantage of the competition between Boeing and Airbus. By ordering from both manufacturers, PAL can negotiate better prices and delivery slots, while also insuring against any supply chain disruptions.
This order marks a significant shift for PAL, which has not purchased Boeing aircraft since 2007. The airline currently operates ten Boeing 777-300ERs, but the addition of the 787 would bring Boeing back into its fleet plan after nearly two decades.
