Amazon Hikes Operations Worker Pay to $20 an Hour
Amazon has announced a significant increase in its minimum hourly wage for operations workers. The new minimum wage will be $20 per hour, which is effective as of September 27.
This pay hike brings the average pay for these employees to nearly $24 per hour. With benefits included, the average total compensation will exceed $32 an hour.
In addition to the wage increase, Amazon has also introduced new employee discounts on eligible groceries and other essentials at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market online. Employees will receive a 10% discount on these items, which can be combined with existing Prime member discounts. At physical Whole Foods stores, employees will get an additional 20% off.
The company is also rolling out access to qualified employees and their families for low-cost banking services through First Tech Federal Credit Union. This benefit will start later this year and includes accounts with no overdraft or monthly maintenance fees, and no credit history is required to open a checking and savings account.
