Amazon Lets Sellers Manage Walmart and Rival Sales from Single Dashboard
Amazon is expanding its services for independent sellers by allowing them to manage their sales on rival platforms, including eBay, Shopify, TikTok, and Walmart, from a single dashboard. This move aims to simplify multichannel selling and save time for merchants who already sell across multiple channels.
The new tools, announced at Amazon's Accelerate seller conference in Seattle, will allow sellers to connect their accounts on other platforms, import listings, view all orders in one place, and fulfill orders across channels. The service is rolling out gradually to U.S. sellers over the coming months at no extra cost.
Amazon's VP of Worldwide Selling Partner Experience, Mary Beth Westmoreland, emphasized that seller data will not be used for any purpose other than surfacing it to the specific seller. She also stated that Amazon will not use this data to affect a seller's standing on its platform or push their products lower in search results.
Amazon has been under scrutiny over its handling of independent sellers' data, with a 2020 report by The Wall Street Journal revealing that Amazon employees had used data about independent sellers to develop competing house-brand products. In response to European regulators, Amazon agreed not to use non-public seller-specific data in its own retail business.
The new multichannel tools add to Amazon's existing services for merchants who sell elsewhere, including Multi-Channel Fulfillment, which ships orders from other sites out of Amazon's warehouses, and Buy with Prime, which lets merchants offer Prime delivery on their own websites. The company also announced a separate pricing program that can cut fulfillment fees by 15% to 25% for the first six months.
