Amazon Locks in Emissions-Free Power for Decades with Constellation Energy
Constellation Energy has secured a significant deal with Amazon that will see the tech giant purchase power from the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant for 20 years. The agreement, worth more than $3 billion in infrastructure investment, will provide 690 megawatts of emissions-free capacity between 2030 and 2032.
The long-term contract with a single, investment-grade buyer gives Constellation Energy greater revenue visibility from its nuclear fleet, which could influence how investors view the company's earnings durability. Analysts already forecast an 8.4% annual increase in revenue over the next three years, with profit margins rising from 11.1% to 16.2%.
The Amazon deal does not change these forecasts on its own but can make the path to them feel more credible by lengthening contract visibility and tying incremental nuclear output to a single buyer.
