Amazon Makes Alexa+ Free on Fire TV, No Prime Required

Amazon has made its Alexa+ AI assistant free to use on eligible Fire TV devices in the US, effective August 19. This change removes the requirement for non-Prime customers to pay $19.99 per month for the full service or subscribe to a limited free chat experience.

The expanded access still doesn't include every capability of Alexa+, with Prime or the paid plan required for features like Alexa Routines, Ring camera moments, and advanced Home Modes on compatible Echo devices.

Amazon's move is part of its broader effort to expand the reach of Alexa+, which has been available in the US since February 2026. The assistant can now be used by eligible Fire TV owners without any additional cost, including those who do not have an Amazon Prime subscription.
