Amazon Mega Facility Proposal Sparks Concerns in Holbrook
A proposed $1 billion Amazon facility in Holbrook is set to be weighed in on by the local community. The project, which would create a 4.2 million square foot package origination center near Sunrise Highway and Beacon Drive, has sparked both excitement and concern among residents.
The development, if approved, would be Amazon's largest facility on Long Island and its first package origination center in the region. It is expected to serve the entire northeast, helping to expand same-day delivery capabilities and speed up package processing.
According to Amazon, approximately 300 trucks would travel in and out of the site each day over a 24-hour period. The company has also submitted a traffic study and proposed infrastructure improvements aimed at addressing transportation concerns in the surrounding area.
