Amazon Now Doubles Reach to 120 Cities in India Ahead of Festive Season
Amazon has rapidly expanded its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, to over 120 cities in India, doubling its reach in just two weeks. The service is now available in cities like Amritsar, Abohar, Jalandhar, Mangalore, Vizag, Kochi, and Bhubaneswar, among others. Customers in these areas can order a wide range of products, including groceries, personal care items, fashion, beauty products, and small appliances, for delivery within minutes.
The expansion is part of Amazon's strategy to prepare for the upcoming festive season, particularly the Amazon Great Indian Festival, which begins on 8 October. Harsh Goyal, Amazon India's vice president of everyday essentials, stated that Amazon Now is the fastest-growing e-commerce business unit in the company's history, with orders doubling every quarter. The accelerated rollout aims to provide faster and more reliable deliveries to more customers during the festive season.
Amazon Now is supported by a network of nearly 800 micro-fulfillment and urban fulfillment centers across India. The service offers tens of thousands of products for delivery within minutes or a few hours, while over one million products are available for same-day delivery and more than four million for next-day delivery. Additionally, Amazon provides millions of products through Prime’s free delivery service.
Customers can check if Amazon Now is available in their area by looking for the ‘Now’ banner at the top of the Amazon shopping app. The company is targeting more than 300 cities for Amazon Now, aiming to build what it describes as India’s largest delivery-in-minutes network.
