Amazon Ordered to Bargain with Teamsters-Represented Workers in San Francisco
A National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) judge has ruled in favor of Teamsters-represented workers at an Amazon warehouse in San Francisco, ordering the company to collectively bargain with them.
The decision, made by Administrative Law Judge Michael Silverstein on June 22, is based on a Biden-era board ruling that established a framework for employers to recognize and bargain with unions. The Teamsters had informed Amazon nearly two years ago that two-thirds of the workers at the facility, known as DCK6, had signed off on joining the union.
Amazon disagreed with the decision and will appeal, arguing that the Cemex ruling was unlawful and created new policy without going through the proper rulemaking process. The company also claims that the Teamsters do not represent any Amazon employees at the facility.
