Amazon Package Survives Spokane Wildfire

A devastating wildfire in Spokane, Washington, has left thousands of acres charred and hundreds of buildings destroyed. Despite the destruction, an Amazon package stored inside a mailbox miraculously survived the flames.

Spokane resident Alex Smith captured the video on August 2, showing the damaged plastic mailbox with its melted opening, but the brown Amazon box inside was untouched. The package had Amazon's signature blue Prime tape intact, and surrounding it were burned-down houses.

Smith expressed his curiosity about how the package survived, saying 'It was a heart-wrenching sight to see.' The damage from the fires has been extensive, with over 10,000 acres burned and an estimated 600 structures damaged. Local officials have reported that cooler temperatures and higher humidities allowed firefighters to make significant gains on August 3.

The cause of the Autumn Lane and Fairview Fires is still under investigation, but a suspect has been charged in connection with the Old Trails Fire. The fires have led to the evacuation of about 65,000 people and sent toxic smoke into the air.
