Amazon Prime Air Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

A cargo plane operated by Amazon Prime Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday (September 6, 2026), killing at least five people and injuring five others. The Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which was flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico, overran the airport's diagonal runway while attempting to land.

According to local officials, three of the injured were in critical condition. The crash trapped two people in vehicles and left the pilot and co-pilot trapped inside the aircraft. Officials declined to identify those killed.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue deployed over 60 rescue units and about 200 personnel to respond to the incident. Fuel was still leaking from the aircraft late in the afternoon, and emergency crews remained at work. All flights were halted immediately after the crash, but two of the airport's four runways had reopened by Sunday evening.

Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated that the company was working with local authorities to establish what happened and prioritized the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
