Amazon Prime Air Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

A cargo plane operated by Amazon Prime Air crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring three others. The plane, a 32-year-old Boeing 767-300 freighter, overran the runway while landing around 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) and struck multiple vehicles on the ground.

Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah said that at least two people were trapped in vehicles that were hit by the plane, and the pilot and co-pilot were trapped inside the aircraft. The National Transportation Safety Board has sent a team to investigate the accident, led by Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy.

Amazon Prime Air operates as a cargo airline for Amazon, and 21 Air is the company that operated the plane involved in the crash. In a statement, 21 Air expressed their condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Boeing also said they would support the government's investigation into the crash.

Amazon has released a statement saying they are still gathering details about what happened and are working closely with local authorities to understand the cause of the accident.
