Amazon Prime Air Crash Sparks Safety Concerns Amid Investigation
Amazon's Prime Air Boeing 767 operated by a contractor overran a Miami runway on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The aircraft struck ground vehicles before coming to a stop, according to Reuters.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the incident, which has already resulted in more than 160 canceled flights and nearly 325 delays at Miami International Airport.
Amazon operates an extensive air network with over 100 partner-flown aircraft handling around 250 daily flights. While a single plane represents less than 0.4% of this capacity, the incident raises concerns about contractor oversight, maintenance, and operating controls.
