Amazon Prime Refunds Expand to $200 Amid Revised Distribution Plan
The Amazon Prime refund program has been expanded to $200 per person, up from an initial settlement of $51. A federal court approved a revised plan that accelerates distribution payments for millions more customers, beginning October 1.
According to the FTC, Amazon had issued over $845 million in Prime redress payments as of September, about 56% of the maximum consumer fund. The revised order uses accepted payments rather than attempted transfers for its minimum distribution test.
The updated plan includes automatic payments for customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits within a 12-month enrollment period. Payments will be made via Venmo, PayPal, or mailed check, with no claim form required.
Amazon's administrator must reconcile the fund by March 31, 2027. If accepted payments remain below $1 billion, people who previously accepted a settlement payment can receive a further pro-rata payment of up to $149, subject to a $200 aggregate limit.
