Amazon Prime Settlement Expansion Includes Millions Left Out
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has expanded its settlement with Amazon Prime to include millions of members who were initially left out. The revised order, issued on September 17, 2026, now includes those who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits in a year during the settlement window. This group was previously excluded because it was assumed they had used the service deliberately.
The maximum payment per person has increased from $51 to $200, and payments will be made automatically without requiring any paperwork. PayPal, Venmo, or check payments will start rolling out on October 1, 2026.
FTC Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Christopher Mufarrige, stated that the change is meant to ensure more consumers who were harmed by Amazon's deceptive enrollment and cancellation practices receive money from the settlement.
