Amazon Pumps $18 Billion into Southern Data Centers
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is experiencing sustained demand for enterprise workloads as it expands its capital commitment in northwest Louisiana by 50% to approximately $18 billion.
This multi-billion-dollar escalation proves that AWS is not slowing down, but instead investing heavily to meet growing demand for cloud computing services.
The company is developing a third data center campus in the region, with a planned facility at the Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport, Louisiana. Amazon has structured the project with STACK Infrastructure to remove local municipal friction and partner with Southwestern Electric Power Company to fund 100% of the electrical substations and transmission enhancements.
This approach enables AWS to bypass regulatory delays that often stall competing facilities and provides a reliable operational runway within the Southwest Power Pool.
