Amazon Raises Minimum Starting Pay, Introduces Lifetime Banking Benefit and Grocery Discounts
Amazon has announced significant changes to its employee benefits package, including a raise in minimum starting pay for full-time core operations employees. The new minimum starting wage is $20/hour, with average pay reaching nearly $24/hour. This increase will benefit more than one million U.S. employees.
The company is also introducing Day 1 Financial, a lifetime banking benefit that includes no overdraft fees, no monthly maintenance fees, and no account minimums on standard checking and savings accounts. This service is provided through First Tech Federal Credit Union and is available to qualified employees, their spouses, and children.
Additionally, Amazon is launching a grocery discount program for its U.S. employees. Starting October 1, 2026, all employees will receive an uncapped 10% off eligible fresh groceries and everyday essentials on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market Online, plus 20% off in-store at Whole Foods Market.
