Amazon Raises Minimum Starting Wage to $20, Offers New Employee Benefits
Amazon has raised its minimum starting hourly wage for full-time core operations employees in the US to $20 per hour, effective September 27. This change will result in an average pay of nearly $24 per hour and a total compensation package valued at over $32 per hour, including benefits.
The company is also offering new benefits to its employees, including a 10% discount on eligible fresh groceries and everyday essentials at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market online. Employees will receive 20% off their purchases at physical Whole Foods stores, and this discount can be combined with existing Prime member discounts.
Additionally, Amazon is providing its employees with access to low-cost banking services through First Tech Federal Credit Union, which offers checking and savings accounts with no overdraft or monthly maintenance fees. No credit history is required to open an account, and employees can keep these services for life.
