Amazon Raises Minimum Wage to $20 Per Hour in Major Pay Hike

Amazon has announced that it will increase wages for its U.S. operations employees by over $1.5 billion, making it one of the largest pay raises in the company's history.

The raise will take effect on September 27 and will bring the minimum starting wage for full-time roles to $20 per hour, a significant jump from the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.

Amazon says that this move is aimed at retaining experienced employees and improving productivity, as the company continues to pursue efficiency gains across its business.

The company has also announced that it will provide uncapped discounts on eligible online groceries and essentials for all U.S. employees, starting from October 1.
