Amazon Raises Pay, Offers Lifetime Banking and Grocery Discounts
Amazon has raised its minimum starting pay for full-time core operations employees to $20/hour, effective immediately. The average hourly wage now reaches nearly $24/hour. When factoring in Amazon's industry-leading benefits package, average total compensation exceeds $32/hour.
The e-commerce giant is also launching a new lifetime banking benefit called Day 1 Financial, which provides qualified employees and their families with high-quality, low-cost banking services they can keep for life. This membership in First Tech Federal Credit Union includes benefits such as $0 overdraft fees, no credit history required to open an account, and access to thousands of surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.
Additionally, Amazon is introducing a grocery discount program that will provide U.S. employees with uncapped 10% off eligible fresh groceries and everyday essentials on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market Online. Starting October 1, they will also receive 20% off in-store at Whole Foods Market, including the hot bar and salad bar.
