Amazon Redesigns Kindle Family for Enhanced Reading Experience
Amazon has unveiled a completely redesigned Kindle family, featuring thinner and lighter devices with new display stacks and seamless edge-to-edge color across the lineup. The company claims that the new Kindles are designed to deliver the best reading experience yet.
The new Kindles include the standard 6-inch model, which is now the most pocket-sized Kindle ever made, with a flush-front display, edge-to-edge color, and up to 6 weeks of battery life. The device also features a new seamless design, with a housing made from recycled materials and a 100% recycled cobalt battery.
The Kindle Paperwhite has been redesigned as well, featuring thinner and lighter construction, waterproofing, and an adjustable warm light for comfortable reading at any hour. The device boasts up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge and features exceptional contrast and clarity for crisp, clear text.
Amazon also introduced the Kindle Colorsoft, which delivers paper-like color that's easy on the eyes without the harsh glare of a tablet. The device uses an oxide-thin film transistor backplane and custom waveforms for fast performance and higher contrast.
