Amazon Refreshes Kindle Lineup with Sleeker Designs and Higher Prices
Amazon has revamped its Kindle e-reader lineup to celebrate the device's almost 20-year anniversary. The refreshed models include new versions of the entry-level Kindle, Paperwhite, and Colorsoft.
The new 6-inch Kindle boasts a flush-front display and is available starting at $150. It also features a slightly slimmer and lighter design than its predecessor, weighing in at just 4.9 ounces (140 grams). The device has improved performance, with book opening times reduced by 30%.
The upgraded Paperwhite model now measures 1mm thinner and weighs less than its previous iteration, with up to 12 weeks of battery life on a single charge. It also features an adjustable warm light for optimal reading comfort. The Signature Edition offers additional premium features, including an aluminum rear housing, increased storage, and auto-adjusting front light.
The Kindle Colorsoft has undergone modest improvements, including the introduction of nitride LEDs to enhance color and increase brightness without washing out details. The device now sports a redesigned display with improved performance and higher contrast on both color and black-and-white content.
