Amazon Revives Live-Action Spider-Man Show for Third Time in Four Years
Amazon is reviving its attempts to create a live-action Spider-Man show, marking the third time in four years it's trying to bring the web-slinger to TV. The studio previously attempted to develop a series with Sony Pictures in 2022, which was canceled after starting work on 'Silk: Spider Society'. Another project, 'Spider-Noir', had a unique release in both color and black-and-white but was also canceled after its first season.
The new show will reportedly be based on the comic book's Clone Saga storyline, which revolves around clones of Spider-Man claiming to be the 'real' hero. This story introduced Ben Reilly, who appeared in the animated movie 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse'. The project seems to be taking inspiration from the animated movies, which are considered a success for Sony.
Despite previous failures, Amazon is optimistic about making a live-action series work, citing the character's enduring popularity. With 'Brand New Day' setting box office records and 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' being well-received, it's clear that the franchise still has a strong following.
