Amazon Secures Approval for Massive Retail and Delivery Center in Oak Brook
Amazon has secured permission to build a massive retail and delivery center in Oak Brook, Illinois. The village board voted 4-0 to rezone land for the project, which will feature a 225,000-square-foot building on a 27-acre site.
The store will occupy the front half of the building, offering groceries and general merchandise to shoppers, while the back half will be used as an order fulfillment center. The village president, Laurence Herman, thanked Amazon for being 'good partners' in the lengthy process.
Amazon is paying $1 million to replace a water main near the site and $125,000 for public-safety projects. The company has proposed starting demolition in October with completion of construction by October 2028.
