Amazon Seeks $8 Billion Nvidia Chip Sale to Investors Amid AI Infrastructure Spending Surge

Amazon is reportedly seeking to transfer around $8 billion worth of advanced Nvidia AI chips to outside investors through a new financing vehicle, aiming to make its balance sheet more asset-light.

The company has held talks with investors about creating a special-purpose vehicle to own thousands of Grace Blackwell chips deployed across multiple Amazon data centers in several U.S. states.

Amazon would then lease the chips back from the vehicle, which could raise capital by issuing debt and potentially obtain an investment-grade credit rating that broadens access to institutional investors.
