Amazon Semi-Truck Crashes at US-Mexico Border
An Amazon semi-truck crashed at the U.S.-Mexico border on September 17, 2026, causing four southbound lanes to close. The truck driver, a 25-year-old male, lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete wall with enough force to eject him from the Freightliner truck.
The truck was traveling at approximately 60 mph when it crashed into a pillar beneath a pedestrian bridge. According to witnesses, neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash. The driver suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials stated that the reason why the driver could not navigate the turn is under investigation. The closure of four lanes on Interstate 5 Southbound caused significant traffic delays, with the CHP urging drivers to exercise caution and plan accordingly.
