Amazon Set to Surpass Combined Value of Tesla and SpaceX by 2030
Amazon's market value may seem to be lagging behind that of Tesla and SpaceX combined, but according to some predictions, this could change by 2030. As of now, Amazon has a market cap of $2.8 trillion, while Tesla and SpaceX together have a valuation of $3.3 trillion. However, when looking at enterprise value, accounting for each company's net debt position, the gap narrows slightly.
Amazon's steady growth in its e-commerce business, particularly in its high-margin cloud-hosting service Amazon Web Services (AWS), is expected to drive profitability and revenue expansion. AWS generated 37% of Amazon's top-line results in the second quarter, delivering 60% of operating income. Analysts project Amazon will generate $133 billion in net income on net sales of $828 billion this year.
Tesla and SpaceX, on the other hand, are expected to grow faster but with lower profit margins. The combined entity is forecasted to produce $5 billion in earnings on $151 billion in revenue this year. However, by 2030, Tesla and SpaceX's profitability and revenue growth are expected to accelerate, narrowing the valuation gap.
According to forecasts, Amazon will be worth more than Tesla and SpaceX combined by 2030, with a projected net income of $215 billion on $1.38 trillion in net sales. The tables turn in favor of Tesla and SpaceX as they generate a wider net margin in 2030, propelled by SpaceX's business model.
