Amazon Slumps on Job Cuts, Strong Q2 Sales Overwhelmed by Cost Reductions
Amazon's shares dropped 2.44% after the company reported strong Q2 sales and AWS growth, but was overshadowed by significant job cuts and cost reductions.
The tech giant announced it will cut around 16,000 corporate jobs in January 2026 to lower operating costs, which accelerated a reduction trend since late 2025.
Despite new institutional investments from Park Presidio Capital LLC and Osterweis Capital Management Inc., Amazon's price action remained under selling pressure.
