Amazon Stock Falls as AWS Growth Meets a $25.8 Billion Free-Cash-Flow Swing
Amazon's stock price fell by 1.2% to $268.97 on Wednesday, following two sessions where cloud momentum briefly pushed its value above $3 trillion.
The company's second-quarter figures showed a strong operating engine, with sales rising 20% to $200.6 billion and operating income advancing 43% to $27.5 billion.
AWS growth reached 37%, with operating income increasing by 64% to $16.6 billion and its share of Amazon's sales growing to 21% from 18%. Chief Executive Andy Jassy described AWS as 'booming' after its fastest expansion in 18 quarters.
