Amazon Stock Slumps Amid Strong Earnings Report
Amazon.com's (NASDAQ:AMZN) stock price fell 1.8% on Wednesday, reaching as low as $267.10 before closing at $267.28.
The decline in shares traded was notable, with approximately 29.36 million shares exchanged during mid-day trading, a drop of 41% from the average session volume of 49.82 million shares.
This move comes after Amazon announced its quarterly earnings results on July 30th, where it reported $5.75 EPS, exceeding analyst estimates of $1.82 and revenue of $200.61 billion, surpassing analyst forecasts of $197.03 billion.
The company's AWS division saw a 36.7% year-over-year increase in revenue to $42.2 billion, its fastest growth in 18 quarters, with a backlog reaching $496 billion and much of 2027 capacity already committed.
