Amazon Stock Slumps on 21 Air Cargo Pause After Fatal Crash
Amazon's stock price took a hit on Tuesday as it announced it was pausing its air cargo operations with 21 Air following a fatal crash. The company shares fell by nearly 2% to $248.73, down from its previous close of $253.54.
The decision comes after a 21 Air-operated cargo flight for Amazon crashed at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing five people and injuring five others. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the crash.
Amazon's logistics network has come under scrutiny as it is central to its retail promise, including fast shipping for Prime members. The company will be closely watching how this affects its delivery network, especially with Prime Big Deal Days set to return on October 6 and 7.
