Amazon's stock is entering a critical week as it recovered from a recent dip and surged on heavy volume. The company's Q1 2026 earnings report showed record-breaking numbers, with net sales reaching $181.5 billion, a 17% year-over-year increase. AWS revenue also saw a significant jump, growing by 28% to $37.6 billion, its fastest rate of growth in over a decade.

CEO Andy Jassy attributed the company's success to its custom chip business, which makes Trainium AI-training chips and Graviton general-purpose computing chips. The business grew around 40% quarter-over-quarter in Q1 2026 to over $20 billion on an annualized run rate, with Amazon using it as a way to reduce costs for providing cloud computing services.

The demand pipeline is also strong, with AWS backlog reaching $364 billion at the end of the quarter and commitments to AI infrastructure spending on Trainium alone exceeding $225 billion. The company's operating margin reached an all-time high of 13.1%, with operating income rising 30% year-over-year to $23.9 billion.

The RSI is in neutral territory, suggesting that there is still room for growth. Amazon's stock has bounced from the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement level at $229.64, and technical analysis suggests a target of $259.90 if it breaks above $239.00.
