Amazon Stock Surges on Strong Q2 Earnings Beat, Accelerating AWS Growth
Amazon's stock surged 9.5% in after-hours trading on July 30 as the company reported strong Q2 2026 earnings, exceeding analyst expectations with $200.6 billion in net sales and $5.75 earnings per share.
The standout performer was Amazon Web Services (AWS), which saw revenue jump to $42.2 billion, a 37% year-over-year increase that marks an acceleration from Q1 2026's 28% growth rate.
Within AWS, the company's artificial intelligence business and custom chip division generated over $25 billion in annualized revenue, more than doubling from the prior year.
