Amazon Sued Over Alleged Discrimination Against Pregnant Warehouse Workers

A group of former Amazon warehouse employees has filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing it of systemically discriminating against pregnant workers.

The plaintiffs claim that Amazon denied them basic accommodations and penalized some who took breaks to pump milk or time off for hospital visits, violating the 2022 Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

A Better Balance, a nonprofit organization representing the plaintiffs, said that Amazon has built an empire on speed and efficiency but often sacrifices the rights of pregnant workers it refuses to accommodate.

Amazon denied the accusations, stating that the lawsuit's description of events is inaccurate and that the company strives to provide a safe and supportive environment for all employees, including supporting tens of thousands of employees with pregnancy accommodations each year.
