Amazon Sued Over Alleged Inflated Advertising Prices Affecting 1.2 Million Customers
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 22 states, including Illinois and Indiana, have filed a lawsuit against Amazon for allegedly inflating advertising prices. The lawsuit claims that Amazon misled its 1.2 million advertising customers by offering competitive prices on several ad products when in fact it was charging higher auction prices.
The FTC says this deceptive conduct had a significant impact, causing customers to pay significantly more than they expected. According to the complaint, Amazon engaged in unfair and deceptive practices, which is unacceptable for a company of its size and influence.
Amazon has responded to the allegations by stating that the FTC's claims are 'patently false' and that it did not deceive its customers on purpose.
