Amazon Sued Over Contaminated Protein Powder Allegedly Laced with Toxic Heavy Metals
A proposed class-action lawsuit has been filed against Amazon for allegedly selling Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Powder contaminated with toxic heavy metals, including arsenic, cadmium, and lead.
The lawsuit claims that Amazon violated state consumer protection laws by deceptively marketing the protein powder as having 'cleaner,' 'quality' ingredients that provide 'feel-good energy.'
According to the complaint, plaintiff Dawn Cada purchased 36 cases of the protein powder from 2022 through 2026 for her family, including her child with severe special needs.
Hagens Berman, the law firm behind the lawsuit, also accused Costco of misleading consumers about the safety of Orgain's protein powders in a separate complaint.
