Amazon Sued Over Deadly Cargo Jet Crash in Miami

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Amazon and several other defendants following a fatal cargo jet crash at Miami International Airport. The crash occurred on an unspecified date, but according to federal investigators, the Boeing 767-300 freighter overran Runway 30 while landing.

The plane, which was carrying about 32,000 pounds of cargo, including contact lenses, appeared to briefly attempt to abort its landing moments before running off the runway. It smashed into a van and struck an SUV on a nearby roadway, killing five people inside the shuttle van operated by Professional Ocean Service Corp.

The lawsuit alleges pilot error in attempting a tailwind-affected landing at excessive speeds without executing a mandatory go-around. It also claims that Amazon and 21 Air failed to provide adequate pilot training and deployed an aircraft with potentially defective stopping systems.
